Once upon a time, there was a beautiful flower. In the flower’s blossom was a tiny little girl named Thumbelina.
An old toad saw Thumbelina and thought to himself, “this beautiful girl should marry my son”. The toad kidnapped her, and made her live in a pond with him. Thumbelina cried every day. She did not want to marry a toad. The fish in the pond saw this sad girl, and helped her escape.
It was winter, and very cold. Thumbelina was freezing. Suddenly, she saw a swallow flying to her.
“Tweet! Tweet! Poor little girl. Winter is here. I must fly south, where it is warmer. Do you want to come?” Thumbelina did not like the cold. She quickly climbed onto the swallow and sat down on his outstretched wings.
The swallow landed in a warm field, and put Thumbelina down on a large leaf. She looked around and saw a tiny little man sitting the middle of the flower. He was the same size as her, and was wearing a golden crown.
When he saw Thumbelina, he thought she was the most beautiful girl in the world. He took off his golden crown, and placed it on Thumbelina’s head. He asked her to be his wife, and be Queen of all the flowers.
She said “yes” to the noble prince, and they lived happily ever after.
